The 12th century basilica is one of the great masterpieces of Burgundian Romanesque art and architecture, with a complex program of imagery in sculpted capitals and portals, The narthex and and facades have just been restored to their former glory. The sun is of all importance on summer solstice when the path of light guides the pilgrim from John the Baptist to the lamb triumphant, to the Light of Christ.
