This feudal castle built in the 7th century was acquired in 1675 by the French military engineer Vauban who served under Louis XIV. He made many changes to the castle and turned it into a military garrison. His descendants and the current owners have kept a great deal of memorabilia and a number of rooms are true to their original use, such as the bedchamber, the study and the library.
